Quilted Casserole Carriers

If you are heading for a potluck dinner, family gathering or party somewhere away from home.  These carriers will make a very stylish way to travel with your home cooked dish. It will also help the food stay warm and ready to eat when you arrive!  I have sewed these few Casserole Carriers with my collection of strawberry fabrics.

These two are different in size. When laid  flat, they are square in shape.

But when you tighten them with the casserole inside, they look like a clover leaf  :)

A closer look at this smaller one which is approx. 34cm (13 1/2") square.

I have sewed some bindings on the handles of this bigger one, size approx. 40cm (15 1/2") square.

I think these carriers are a useful and handy accessory.

I have made this one round in shape and its approx.  42cm  (17")  diameter.

                                                            Thank you for viewing.

                                                           Happy Sewing!

Quilted Tiffin Carrier Bag

Nowadays,  many people prefer to use a tiffin carrier to have our take-aways. What more when you have a pretty bag to carry it with you!  It will also help to keep the food warm while you travel. For me, I like to hang the tiffin at the back of my car seat espeacially when I am travelling alone. When I have no one to help me hold on to the tiffin,  it will not topple when I turn my car to the left or right or make a U-turn, LOL!

The size is approx. 15cm  (6") diameter suitable for a 14cm 3 tier stainless tiffin carrier.

Hope you will like my creation. Have a happy day :)

More Flex Frame coin purse

As mentioned earlier, sewing is still on.  Am glad my mood is still around!  LOL!  I have a few more flex frame in my stash, I continue to sew these type of coin purses plus a pouch! This time a little extra stitching/applique done one them.

This bear was cut out from another fabric and applique on to this plain purple fabric.  And its quilted too.

Isn't  this cat cute?  Hand applique too!  The ears was stuffed before I  stitched them on so it has a 3D look..........

This is my favourite piece! An owl and its sold!

And last but not least, an applique  monkey.  This is a much bigger piece and I think you can use it as a eyeglass pouch :)

All these purses and pouch are for sale at my son's esty store :

Bernina Club Workshop - Oct 2011

Yesterday, I had a great time attending a free workshop organised for Bernina owners by Bernina Malaysia.  There were six of us :

learning to make this book cover, front :

Inside :

Fast and simple, but the project teaches us different ways to make the best use of our machines.  Imagine after owning my Aurora 440 for a few years, now only I discover some functions that I never knew my machine has,  LOL!  Nevertheless, I've enjoyed the day very much, had great fun,  learning and chatting with a group of crafters.  Thanks to Agnes Chan, our teacher at Bernina and to Kelvin Chan of  Bernina, Malaysia.

Crochet fever

Was caught by a high crochet fever lately. Brought a lot of books, both English and Chinese (even when I can't read them) ones! Also brought lots of Minlon yarns (when I keep telling myself that I'm on a stash diet!) and have taught myself to crochet a few small items :

Two beanies for my son, a scarf and a hat for myself.  Had a hard, unpicking many times before I could get it  done. Not sure where did I go wrong even when I've  properly follow the pattern on the book.........could be the yarn I used!  Wish I have a 'Si-Fu' to teach me :(

Quilt with Joy

I have started a quilt back in 2006.  It was meant for my elder son but unfortunately have left it unfinished all these years!  Recently, with my best friend, Amara's encouragement, I've finally took it out of my UFO (unfinished object) basket and started working hard on it! And this time, I've manage to complete it at last !!!

I somehow, had lots of mood this time and manage to complete it with 'umph'! And the best thing is, my elder son is coming home to use it! Wow, I'm so happy and felt very satisfying job done!

A little Basket

A  friend placed an order for a little basket to keep her hair bands, clips and knick-knacks. She is very kind in letting me make it with my own creativity. And this is what I managed to come up with :

I've choosen a much darker colour  fabric for the inside :

Thanks to Nina (Bernina Aurora 440 QE ), I'm able to sew many different decorative stitches on it!

I've even add one on the handle :

I'm so glad she liked it!  It is a joy to be able create and work hard for a happy and satisfied friend cum customer. Thank you for your support, Dr. Kathy :))

Three's Company

About two weeks ago, I was having some gastric attacks that made me feel dizzy. And had to lay down and do nothing but rest,  Nevertheless, before I fell ill, I managed to finish sewing this nice long shape bag that I called "Three's Company". Now that I'm much better I'll like to blog about it.....Its long (about 18 inches) because I wanted to have the entire picture on it. Felt wasted to have to cut at the three girls' waist, LOL!  Because I loveeeeee the picture on this fabric!

At the back, I put in four big pockets! I loveeeeee pockets!

Inside, I learned to sew a nice big zip pocket in the middle of the bag. So glad, it turn out okay.....

And a nice little pouch for all your knick-knacks......

all sew with matching fabrics...black and whites.  I used to dislike black......but now, I'm beginning to fell in love with the colour, LOL!

Valentine's Exchange

I've participated in a Valentine's Exhange for the first time.  It is organised by a Yahoo stitching group that I've joined (some years ago) called NNC.  My partner happen to be Nik who gave me an Embroideried  Needle book (with some pins and needles inside too)  a lovely pincushion and some heart shaped stickers . I love them all and here's are some  picture of it :

Inside the book are some  needles :
and some pins

and here is what I've made for  her in returned :

Its a towel holder in pink (cos she likes pink) and a moroon colour hand towel.
plus some zip, button maker, fabric I brought from America and some ribbon.  I hope she likes what I''ve selected for her.......

Unfinished Projects

I've lots of sewing projects that I've left unfinished over the years.  And I told myself to finish them up when I've more time. So, during the recent long school holidays in November and December 2010, I am glad I've manage to get some done. And here it is :

I call this the 'Flower Bag' as it has eight flowers (four on each side).

This is the 'Oriental Bag'   cos it has a  'cheong sam'  look.

This is Sun Bonnet Sue that I've learned to applique a few years ago. I've now finally finished it up into a little bag!

The back looks like this:

And it comes with a matching zipper pouch.

Another of my half done project is this sewing box. I'm very pleased with how the box turned out :)

And the inside looks like this :
